I have seen so many ‘build an outfit with me’ videos on Instagram and TikTok that it got me thinking, how are people approaching putting an outfit together? We’re experimenting with different outfit methods to see which is best.
Here’s how it went:
This one is all about mirroring what you’re wearing on the bottom, on the top (like two pieces of bread making a sandwich).
It’s important to match your accessories with the colour you’re wearing on the top and bottom for a cohesive stylish look.
Here’s the look we put together:
Overall, we like this look, but we felt kind of stifled by the strict rules. We’re maximalist gurlies! Let us mix and match please.
All over TikTok, the little big is definitely not news anymore, but we still wanted to give it a go.
The rule goes when you wear something baggy or oversized, you have to pair it with something ‘little’ (tight, form fitting, cropping, not baggy) to balance it out.
In summary, we loved this. It was flattering and actually made sure that the pieces we wore got the moment they deserved. We’ll deffo be using this method in the future, it’s super easy to look stylish with this look.
With the rise of quiet luxury, there’s been a surge of fashion advice suggesting to wear minimal pieces but somehow still make a statement. It seems easy enough, right?
For days when we’re not feeling like standing out as the bold and bright gurlie, this is a great way to express our style without going over kill (as usual).
It’s also important to layer up to show depth in an outfit rather than losing yourself in the clothes. This gets harder as it gets cold, but we followed the steps in this video to create an autumn appropriate look.
Overall, layering helps make the outfit look more considered and stylish. This otherwise basic fit, has been elevated by the different textures and colours on show due to the layering.
