Want to know how to get the most out of Whering? What better way than to sit down with the Founder and hear how she uses the Whering to elevate her daily styling choices.
We asked Bianca 27 questions on all things outfit planning, styling and general fashion to get the lowdown on how to maximise the potential of our wardrobes with Whering.
When do you plan your outfits?
First thing in the morning or the night before.
Do you plan in advance or back-log?
I plan outfits the week before if I can get organised. I like to see the week in advance and make sure the outfits are different enough.
If you plan ahead, is there a time of week that you typically plan your outfits?
Sundays are my Whering days.
If you plan ahead, how far in advance do you typically plan?
Only a week, too much stress in this brain to do more!
OOTD Selfie or outfit collage?
I am an outfit collage girl because there’s so much I can do with it and it unlocks a lot of creativity for me.
Outfit in mind or shuffle through your wardrobe?
50% of the time I know exactly what I want to wear, I just look at the weather and I am good to go. Or I use Dress Me and I typically start with one thing I kind of want to wear and shuffle around it.
Do you plan on your days off too? Or just when you’re going somewhere?
Always on my days off! There’s no rest.
Styling:
Favourite outfit planning feature? (Canvas, Dress Me, W-Pick)
I think for me it’s Dress Me. I have found 200 outfits I never thought I could pull off through Dress Me, and they’re my favourite.
How do you style an outfit? (something in mind, item in mind, etc.)
I go off vibe and one non negotiable item and I work around that.
Favourite outfit on Whering/most repeated outfit?
Omg yes! It’s so basic, but it works so well. It’s a co-ord that I’ve worn with a million different jewellery and accessory combinations and I never get sick of it.
Last photo you added to your moodboard?
Oooh, great question. It was this incredible wedding dress. It was a bit rogue as it’s not white but I just fell in love.
What’s an item you would pin to Dress Me?
The JW Anderson shoes from our shoot yesterday.
Is there a Lookbook you typically filter to Dress Me?
It’s called Capsule 101 and it’s a collection of my favourite and my most wearable pieces. I’ve created 50 outfits from it that are super chic and basic looks that I can Dress Up and down. It’s so helpful.
Name your favourite Lookbook
Capsule 101 is my favourite Lookbook because it's so versatile and I can do so much with it.
Which stat do you find the most interesting?
I love to look at my most and least worn combinations. When I see I’ve not been wearing an item either it inspires me to find creative ways (with Dress Me, or stuff that I’ve pinned from Moodboard) to style it, or it gives me the kick up the bum that I need to sell this and give it a new home.
Were you surprised by your most/least worn items?
Yes! So surprised. When I look at my least worn and lowest cost per wear, it’s items that were out of my comfort zone and I remember thinking were a bit crazy when I bought them. But I’ve realised it’s those items that define your personal style. It’s those things that aren’t what you’re as comfortable with but make you feel really good that I love to wear. So a great surprise for me there.
What’s your most worn colour?
After black, it’s blue.
What’s your lowest cost per wear?
0.1
What are your favourite pairings?
My favourite pairings are quite random, but it’s actually sunglasses and bags. It makes you think about combining accessories in a way that makes the whole outfit feel elevated.
What’s your total wardrobe % of wear?
It’s 71%. For someone with a big wardrobe, that’s one of the things I’m most proud of.
Who’s wardrobe would you love to follow on Whering?
Omg such a good question! I want to say Tracy Guarino, just because her wardrobe is iconic.
Who would you love to have style you on Whering?
I would love to have Team Whering style me. I feel like you guys know me so well and you would style me completely differently to how I dress now.
What’s your favourite thing about Whering? (Type A, love being organised, keeping track of stats, style playground, shopping my own wardrobe, etc.)
I could not live today without the Whering app on my phone. I can pull out at any time and style anything I want to buy before I buy it. Everyday I have some sort of outfit combination for whatever mood I'm in at my fingertips. It helps me feel less overwhelmed like I used to be– so I guess it’s the organisation that I love most.
Do you take your own photos or get them online?
I used to take pictures when I first started the app, but now I find I screenshot from the resale site where I purchased it from or the online store. I love how clean it looks and it’s so fun– it feels like a game!
Тоp tip for taking good photos/finding photos easily?
Use the Google snip tool in the app. I literally type in anything I’ve been thinking of buying, or just bought, or type in the item's serial number and it’s in the app in less than two seconds.
What’s your favourite Whering hack? E.g adding something before you’ve bought it, using clothing tags to find pictures online
I kind of want to say for me it’s creating a capsule Lookbook, and then filtering to shuffle that in Dress Me to get unlimited outfits put together.
To give a new one, it’s taking pictures of looks I already love and uploading them to a moodboard and then every week I copy them into canvas. And I just find that it’s so helpful as when I feel like I have nothing to wear I go into my wardrobe and then I can find new ways to style items.
Where do you go for outfit inspo?
I want to say TikTok. I am deep in a rabbit hole of fun and electric creators and I love how experimental they are. It doesn’t feel like a Pinterest moodboard, it feels real and lived– kind of authentic.
